Sleeping After Nights Without Wrecking the Week
Blackout blinds, anchor sleep and the one thing to do before noon.

Sleep is where the fat loss actually happened. Not in the gym, not in the kitchen, in a dark room at nine in the morning while the rest of the street was going to work. Get this wrong and the training and the food stop working, because you'll be too tired to do either.
The wind-down
- Same routine every time, so your body knows what's coming.
- Light meal, not a big carb load, before you lie down.
- Phone out of the room. Not face down. Out.
- Blackout blinds or a mask, and earplugs if the house is awake.
Anchor sleep
You won't get eight straight hours after a night. Aim for a core block of four to five hours at the same clock time every day, whether you're on nights or not, and let the rest of your sleep flex around it. The consistency of the anchor matters more than the total.
Before noon, get daylight
On the day off after nights, don't sleep the whole day. Get up, get outside, get daylight before noon. It drags your body clock back towards normal and makes the next night's sleep real. Then do the meal prep, do an easy walk, and go to bed at a normal time.
Going into and out of nights
- Shift your sleep window an hour a day in the run-up where you can.
- First night: stay up late the evening before, lie in that morning.
- Last night: short sleep after, then push through to a normal bedtime.
- Caffeine stops six hours before any planned sleep.
Work harder. Live better.
